Democratic Governors Association

Even Colin Powell thinks Republican voter suppression laws are bad policy. On Face the Nation, the former Secretary of State called out Republican governors for restricting voting rights and making it harder for minorities to cast a ballot.

During the March on Washington 50 years ago, voting rights were an integral part of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream. We’ve come a long way – but the fight isn’t over yet. Emboldened by the recent Supreme Court ruling invalidating a key section of the Voting Rights Act, Republicans are pushing even more voting restrictions on the state level – from restricting voting hours and limiting student registration to implementing new ID requirements.

Stand with the DGA today and thank Colin Powell for taking a stand against these unfair restrictions. Join the DGA and thank Colin Powell for standing up for equal voting rights for all American citizens – not just those who vote Republican.  Thank Colin Powell for standing up for voting rights!

From a radical voter purge set up by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the extreme voter suppression bill signed by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, Republican governors across the country continue to target young people, the elderly and minority voters with new restrictions on voting.

This kind of blatant voter suppression has to end. Add your name now to thank Colin Powell for taking a stand for voting rights. Thanks for all you do.
