Working It

Nice morning to my errands and I planned on going shopping center for some others. Got most things and in the afternoon I went to Shop N Save, got some Macadmia Nuts to send to my sister Bea on the Mainland. Post Office opens at 1:00 PM. Her Birthday, she can share with her children and grandchildren.

"It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you are."

On the way I noticed the Huli-huli chicken and arranged to get a photo, Went home and got the camera and a cap for one of the guys. Not a bad price, Six bucks for a half chicken plate with two scoops rice and a little corn. Good 'nuff.

Huli-huli chicken fresh off the grill, Nanakuli Super Parking, every Friday.

Then went over the Ono Steak And Shrimp and talked to Jeffery about the Mini Web site. This is hard to explain to anybody, no one has ever seen a Mini Web site. First time for me too, so what do I know? We decided, I will just set up a trial and he can add or substract whatever he wants. We will play it by ear. It will be on the side bar of this blog.

Then I just started a free classified Ad to help our neighbors. Employment, because it helps the ones looking for the job and also the ones that need the help. It will be on the side bar of this blog. And yes, I know, many will be minimum wage jobs. But we all know that minumum wage in Nanakuli is ten times better than minimum wage in downtown Honolulu. "I coulda been home in 20 minutes."

"So Rome was not built in a day."

Busy, Busy, Busy

It has been a little hectic the last few days. There has been much to do including the rearrangement of my living quarters. There seems to be some kind of motor above my ceiling that kicks in just about anytime. So I moved my sleeping to the living room and it has become more comfortable. Even to taking my afternoon naps.

"One good thing about our legislators, they eliminate waste, no matter how much it costs."

Then I also rearranged the storage space and I have enough now. Just have to remember, "a place for everything and everything in its place." I must get out more and walk. The bike is not enough and it is different exercise. I may take a walk up Lualualei Road and see what it looks like. I have been slowing down going to Honolulu but I will have to try to make it at least once a week, now that I have my music going. It will also help in the evening when I am able to upload a movie to my laptop and then see it on the way home.

Kokua Mau was long overdue for a picture.

The hits on Nanakuli Ridge have been slowing down so I have to look for some more additions to blogging information. We are starting to get comments and that is good. Maybe the beginning of getting feedback from the reader/neighbors. We shall let it roll as it wishes. You can contact me by phone, but I am hard of hearing and it is difficult. The best way is by email. Easy for me to read.

Let's get Nanakuli Ridge rolling, let's get mo' friends and neighbors.

Thursday in Nanakuli

Another nice day in Nanakuli and I got many of my errands done in the morning. Even contacted our Apartment Manager about the noise on the ceiling of my bathroom. There is some machinery there that is driving me bats. I moved out of the bedroom and I now sleep in the living room.

"You don’t dance? You were a dancer once upon a time. You just stopped
and you don’t remember when."

Had to get some specials at Sack N. Save and dropped in on Kokua Mau, and I will stop by next week about 10:30 and a photo. They are long overdue. Shelly's is usually too busy. So I find a nice group at the Ono Steak and Shrimp. Went back home and got the camera.

Standing: Jasmin, Carla and Jasleen. Front: Carmelo, Penelope, Jeffrey and Herminia.
Gradually we are establishing our happy family in Nanakuli Ridge. All for one and one for all. It will take time, no one has ever seen a blog before and we are relatively new. And everyone will get in whenever they want to say something. Surprisingly, the hits are getting closer to 20 average per day. Just amazing.
From Jeffery: the Bible, John 14:6.
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father
except through Jesus Christ."

Got my goodies at the Market, and the Manager had been looking for me when I got back home. I called immediately, and she came up immediately. She couldn't fix but I think she knows what has to be fixed and that it can be fixed. I have to be patient.

Pub's Side Note: the homeless have now five settlements in back of Sack N Save. Getting bigger every day. People are making new pathway to the Mauka residences.

It's Beginning To Move

I don't really know where the hits are coming from but the counter does not lie and Nanakuli Ridge is racking them up. Now over 20 average hits per day. Many thanks to Kimberly Ha'upu for her comments. I am sure she has more to say to our friends and neighbors here in Nanakuli. Send me an email, Kim and I will post it.

"Dream up the world you want to live in and.dream out loud."

Then too, we got a comment from Chicago, Illinois on Chrissy of the Malasadas at the Nanakuli Super parking lot. Yes, we are going International. Ha! This whole thing is looking good. Hope somebody from the Parking lot contributes some information for our readers.

We shall try to see if we can get someone from Shelly's Hair Salon to be our first Guest Author. But these things take time. Perhaps the first one will be someone from the Nanakuli Super Parking lot. We must be patient.

The homeless section in back of Sack N Save is growing and now has about three separate encampments. The one big mistake is making the first one right in the old pathway coming from the Mauka section to the Shopping Center. So now, the people in the Mauka section trying to develop new pathways. Otherwise they do not bother much.

Going down the shopping area, many are out because they are big shots and have to ask permission. So I have to find the ones that can use the public relations among us, the ones that do not have the big bucks behind them. Perhaps the Nails or next door, the Chinese Restaurant.

Our blog (yes, it use to be mine) can evolve into a nice friendly lot of friends and neighbors helping one another. That Nanakuli spirit has been here for years. Nanaikeola Senior Apartments has been developing into a nice neighbor group. We are gradually getting more kokua from our fellow tenants. And we are going to get more local news from them too. Rome was not built in a day.

Been staying in for two days and I thought I had better get out a little. Had to to get some milk and juice at Sack N Save so I prepared nicely. Went to Kokua Mau and everything there was just fine. Said hello to the folks at Shellys and they had some people, my quota of four, OK. I told them I would be back and went on my way. Jeffrey was just getting ready to open and the Nanakuli Super parking lot was about one third full.

Seated: Kim and Kaimi. Back: Barb and Angela.
"A blog is a personal diary. A daily pulpit.
A collaborative space. A political soapbox.
A breaking-news outlet. A collection of links.
Your own private thoughts.
Memos to the world."

I said good morning to a few on my way to Sack N Save and I got my stuff, which made for a heavy bag. Took the short cut back of the Nanakuli Super building and had to change shoulders.

I went upstairs put my groceries away and I got paper, pens and camera and went back to Shelly's. One person missing getting his medication at Kaiser Permanente. So I went back home and got a cap. Now I got a good picture and some information. I am moving and getting some exercise. Good for me.

Got the photo just fine and maybe I am learning how to work the photo switch. Slower. Went back home, ate lunch and got to work on my other blogs. It was a nice day. I hope Kim and Kaimi email me something to add to this blog. They are affiliatied with Consortium Defense Against Domestic Violence. So we help each other out, that's Nanakuli.

The Mini Web Sites

Now that we are piling up hits on this blog, I am willing to see if I can contact one of our good clients to give them the first Mini Web Site. What is it? And How much is it going to cost me? Ha?

"Make Today count. Today - each Today - is the most important day of your life."

Most Nanakuli residents already know that I do everything for fun. However, those that make over a million per day gotta pay. Sorry! You, Jeffrey, next week you are going to be in trouble. Ha!

The Mini Web Sites will be in the Pages section in the side bar. And we hope to keep them at the right size. Maximum close to a letter size poster. The first test page will be mythical. We wait to see who is the first one willing to get in. This blog is not a Web site, our blog is a two way communication tool.

We are getting some notices to the South still in Nanakuli and to the North to Laulaulei which is just fine. May even accept up to and including Maili. Da best beach park on the Island. Waianae can take care of themselves very nicely.

"The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise"
by Les Paul and Mary Ford.

OK, let's have it. Email me as soon as possible and you are in your own Mini Web site for free and I am having fun in my old age.

Personal Update

Received two nice postcards. One from my sister Bea and every thing is just fine there. I find it difficult to write in snail mail so I hope to convey to my relatives that do not have ready access to email where they can get the information. Through the other friends and relatives access.

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

I also received a card from my great grandson Jacob. He will be going on a base ball trip to New York City. He and his mom can also tune into this blog. They can all see if I am doing all right.

New one on Wednesdays, Agostino's Pizza
Authentic Sicilian Pizza

My blogging is as per usual my hobby and it has been a little overwhelming. But I am in the process now of making one of the blogs independent with at least four Guest Authors. They can then handle it quite well by themselves. Of course I have to give them the best blog I've got. They will then probably run it up to new heights.

I made my usual visit to the VA. I have a bad heart and they are doing wonders with their medications. Just have to visit regularly to check up on my blood levels. They are miracle workers.

I am still amazed that with the scarce blogging I do, we still have about 13 average hits per day in this blog. Almost 400 per 30 day month. They will go up when some of our people in the Nanakuli Ridge start to post something or a photo.

Meanwhile I post whatever I get from my relatives in addition to everything else.
